The host was accommodating and greeted us as we arrived. When I booked our site, we landed on the smallest tent site right on the road. The host noticed this and suggested we drive around and look for sites that were available. We found a much better suited site and couldn't have been happier. Would recommend.

For 14 years I have camped at Elk Creek in July. I have always struggled with the check-out and check-in being the same time. The last two years I have actually had the people leaving right at 1pm... this means the camp host has no time between the previous campers' departure and my arrival to check the site. I feel check-out and check-in should have an hour gap.
This year we had neighbor campers with 5 dogs who barked and howled and cried the entire time their human family was away from their camper. By the entire time, I mean the longest lull between yips, cries, or barks was 3 seconds. YES, THREE SECONDS-I COUNTED! This should have been address by the camp host who heard it every time she went by. This should also be addressed when campers reserve spots. No one goes to enjoy your beautiful location only to hear dogs for 7 hours straight.
Lastly, the increase from 24 to 54 for a marina slip seems ludicrous. I understand the need to occasionally increase prices but to increase over 100% is ridiculous!
Thank you for your time! The lake was beautiful and full this year!

Great location. Really enjoyed this well kept campground. Short drive to the Black canyon of the Gunnison. The trip we took was the west elk loop via Crested Butte and the Keble pass road , onto the North Rim of the Black canyon absolute incredible drive. So much to see in the area

Great location, easy walk to beach.
A bit crowded with fire pit close to road, blocking parking space..
