What Guests Are Saying
Mogote is praised for its clean, spacious campsites and well-maintained bathrooms, with a welcoming and attentive camp host, Sam. The beautiful river and serene forest setting enhance the camping experience, making it a favorite for many visitors. However, numerous reviews note a significant mosquito problem and mention that entrance road conditions could be improved, alongside the need for some facilities to be updated.

A lovely campground, with the lower loop in close proximity to the river. The upper loop seemed a little too exposed (and close to RT 17) for our taste.
Also there's a "swamp" next to sites 22 and 23 (ours), so a lot of bugs. Didn't quite realize this when booking - there are a lot of lower loop PRIME spots along the river though.
At night I could hear a little bit of road traffic, but nothing too bad.

Mogote is a beautiful campsite, relatively minimal in amenities other than a water hydrant and vault toilets but the rushing river and towering trees all around you make you feel small and in touch with your surroundings.
I was in the lower loop and couldn't reccomend it enough.

Believe what other reviews say about the mosquitos! Other than that it was a very nice campground. Well shaded and fairly large and private sites in the lower loop by the river. Well maintained and clean vault toilets. Got a kick out of the "Whichever" signs on the toilet doors instead of the Men and Women.

Love to go up there! Seems a little empty! But always nice to be there! Just wish the piles of trees they cut down weren’t all over the upper loop. New and old!! Seems like a fire hazard! Been going there for 38 years! Will continue

This is a wonderful campground with lov
ely spots. Most are fairly private and spaced far apart.

Camp areas are very nice and the river was beautiful, camp host was very good and restrooms were spotless. The only thing that could be better is the overgrowth around the campsites and something that is not controllable is the mosquitos, they were thick. Overall we loved our stay here.

BUGS, BUGS, BUGS! There is such an abundance of overgrowth, and standing water in basically a swamp that abuts to the campground, we were over run with mosquitoes. We were unable to be outside for any period of time. A little attention to thinning out the brush might help with the bug problem. Camp Host was very personable and helpful.
