What Guests Are Saying
Mogote is praised for its clean, spacious campsites and well-maintained bathrooms, with a welcoming and attentive camp host, Sam. The beautiful river and serene forest setting enhance the camping experience, making it a favorite for many visitors. However, numerous reviews note a significant mosquito problem and mention that entrance road conditions could be improved, alongside the need for some facilities to be updated.

The campground had lots of pull through sites which made it easy to park a trailer. The host kept the toilets cleaned. We took a day trip to the Great Sand Dunes and another to Taos to go rafting. Mogote got rather warm during the days so we spent a lot of time visiting streams and meadows at higher elevations.

Really lovely spot - loved hearing the river. Thought I had a river-facing spot, but it’s more of a bog. The river is on the other side. Lots of mosquitoes but once I put on spray it was all good.

Love the campground, clean restrooms, great host, cool weather! BUT the Forest Service needs to fix the road off of Hwy 17 getting to the campground. It is HORRIBLE - full of pot holes!

Beautiful place on the wide, peaceful Conejos river! Lots of space between camp sites and lots of privacy. Will return!

It is super windy during my visit so tent camping was super loud while trying to sleep.
Other than that it’s a great area at 9700’. It’s pretty high. Nice creek running through it. Super quiet.

The site host was amazing. He was faced with a challenging situation due to a nearby forest fire. Be kept the camp continuously informed with updated information.

Beautiful and quiet campground. The host "Sam" was exceptional! Very friendly, very helpful, and a great conversationalist.
