What Guests Are Saying
Buffalo Springs campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained environment, with spacious sites that provide privacy and are conveniently located near hiking and fishing opportunities. Many visitors appreciated the clean facilities and helpful campground hosts, although some noted issues with the reservation process and maintenance of the bathrooms. Despite minor drawbacks, such as road noise and the need for better water access, overall experiences at the campground were positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Love the campground and host. Very clean and well maintained. Only complaint was truck noise from the highway due to I70 closure at night.

Nice campground. The site we were in felt secluded (i.e. not right next to someone) and many of the sites seemed similarly well spaced out. Host was very nice. We did go late in the season so the deciduous trees had lost their leaves but we still felt a sense of being away from others. Bathroom was just a pit toilet but it was clean. Very nice area with some great hikes nearby.

Well kept campground in a nice area. Not sure why the dumpsters were closed for our trip however. We paid the same fee everyone else and although we visited later in the year should have had this amenity.

Pros: very quiet the weekend we were there, super-clean outhouses.
Con: very dusty.

Excellent Forest Service campground for enjoying the fall aspens. We were just past the peak but still lots of fall color to enjoy in the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area. I would give the campground a higher rating, but we battled mice in our 25-foot trailer all week; we caught 11 mice over the course of five nights. The dumpster was overflowing all week; don't know if that contributed or if mice are just common in this campground. In three years of camping in primarily Forest Service campgrounds we never had a problem until now. Phone service limited for AT&T, but just a short distance out of the campground toward 285 we had full service. We were in site 8; most sites had a good bit of privacy. Will go back next year armed with lots of mouse traps!

The sites are big and well kept. We were with friends and all had a great time. We would go back.

This campground has been loved almost to death. Place needs a little love and care. Camp sites themselves are bare dirt and dusty. Campground was on the edge of a major forest fire a few years ago and still bears the scars from same. Needs a crew with chainsaws to clear out the remaining dead trees. Great location, great access to multiple fishing areas. Camp sites, at least on the east end are well spaced and relatively quiet. I'll go back.

Half the campground was not reservable due to COVID we are guessing so it was very quiet! On the edge of burn scar so the volleyball court that is listed was burned and no longer there. We had site 18 and there was no one around us to the sides or behind us. Very large loop to pull trailer through and easy to get in and out of. Vault toilets are very old and not great.

Clean, tidy campground. The limited number of spaces was superb!

Spacious sites, great fishing, great campground host. This has become my favorite campground for this area of Colorado.
