What Guests Are Saying

Happy Meadows is a charming and well-maintained campground on the South Platte River, praised for its friendly camp host, Paul, who provides excellent service and local recommendations. Guests appreciate the clean facilities, including immaculate bathrooms, and the serene atmosphere perfect for fishing and tubing. Though some noted traffic noise from the nearby road and occasional mosquitoes, the overall experience is highly positive, making it a favored yearly destination for many.

Third time camping at Happy Meadows and it’s our favorite spot, quiet, nice people, fun for kids, great for tubing and trout fishing.

Great experience! Host was nice & knowledgable on the area. River access is limited if you aren't on that side of the campground (you'd have to cut through other campsites), but #5 seemed to be the only campsite with good hammocking trees which was a huge plus for me. Platte River Trail is a short drive up the road, about a 6.5 mile round trip out-and-back hike. If you have Verizon, forget about having any kind of service out there! I had to drive toward Florissant to get a text to go through. Really nice to completely unplug though. There were lots of smaller animals around so be mindful of your food and trash. Bathrooms were clean. The dirt road coming in wasn't bad at all, a little washboard action going on but I've driven on much worse. Quiet hours were from 10-7, and all the other campers were very respectful of this (no issues with generators at night). Would definitely stay here again!

We came right after Labor Day weekend and the entire stay the bathrooms were filthy. There was toilet paper that was never picked up, and the camper host in charge of the site was gone every day. There was flies everywhere and it smelled like urine on the ground, no doubt from campers who didn't want to use the dirty bathroom. We have been to Happy Meadows several times in the past and it has never been this dirty.
