Gorgeous and unique campground. We easily spent the whole day here playing in the creek. There are trailheads from the campsite too. Only thing to note while planning is no running water, pit toilets. Camp host was super nice. A great time.

I cannot even say how it was because we didn't get there. On the way to Spruce on 285, our old car died and had to be towed, it could not be repaired, so we had to buy a new car. This took two days. We had a reservation for four days and we could still have come for two days, but, if one doesn't occupy the site the first night, you cancel the reservation. I strongly protest this. If something arises, such as our problem, there should be a way over the phone or online to tell you what has happened and still use the remaining days of the reservation. You should change your system.

Someone else posted to make sure you get a site on the outer edge of the circle, and boy were they right. We took the last site available, and we were on the inside of the circle. There are no trees in the middle so you are completely exposed to the wind (and it was very windy) and to the other campsites. We could only put our tent on the platform so it was right up next to the table and grill so it was cramped with a 6 person tent. The bathrooms were okay, but one night someone in the men’s bathroom literally pooped all over it. It was disgusting. It was cleaned probably the best it could be but it wasn’t really usable when we were leaving 1.5 days later. On the last night, one of the campsites had a behemoth of an RV, at least 30 ft long. It was extremely loud, so you couldn’t hear the creek or any nature while that thing was there. Other people had smaller RVs, like half the size and no problem at all with them. They should not allow giant RVs like that in with the tents, especially when they are planning on leaving them on for hours into the night and first thing in the morning. It makes it very unpleasant with the noise and the blocked views. I’m glad I brought ear plugs or I wouldn’t be able to sleep.

We had a great camping experience here. Site 25 had zero shade but we had 2 canopies that worked out well for us. There's a good grass area near this site which allowed us to play some yard games which was great. It's a great area with hiking options right from the campground. We played in the creek one afternoon and it was very refreshing. Not enough water for tubing but enough to float around. There are 2 pit toilets for the whole campground. They get pretty gross by mid-afternoon. But they were cleaned every morning and every evening so it was manageable. There is one pump to get water, it is very rusty water. The camp host told us it is tested every month and is safe to drink; however, we were happy we brought enough drinking water with us. We just used the pump water for dishes, etc.

The river was very fun, the further we walked down the deeper it got! Bathrooms were fairly clean and campsites were a good size! I would recommend!

No running water. The vaulted bathroom is hideous, you might choke and pass out in there before you finished peeing. There’s basically no shade except for a single campsite out of 30 or so. However the hike was beautiful and the creek runs along the camp is a great spot for kids to play.
