The camp host was excellent...the sites we're raked and even the fire pit was cleaned...bath house very clean and always had supplies...host was very clear about how to put out your camp fire as many campers really had no idea.

This was the fourth time we've camped at Baby Doe CG and, as in the past, we had a great time. We've camped in different spots in Baby Doe but last year and this year we were in a site near the lake beach. We have a 20 foot trailer and we had family join us a couple nights on the weekends with a tent. Our family had fun paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, and spending time at the beach.
One thing we appreciate is the family-oriented vibe at this campground. We love the happy sounds and sights of children playing together and joyously riding their bikes around the loop.
The campground hosts, Roy and Sarah, were wonderful. They assured the campground and vault toilets were always clean and they spoke directly yet respectfully with campers who didn't know or abide by the campground rules that preserve the forest and campground and support positive camping experiences for everyone.
Why 4 stars rather than 5? We would favor the addition of signage guiding campers to use approved trails. Currently, many people walk off the designated trails between and next to campsites, violating the most basic "Camping 101" etiquette as well as campground vegetation preservation rules. Currently, the only place the rules are posted is on the back of the vault toilet doors. It would help a lot if the US Forest Service would post some signs around directing people to use the approved trails for both forest preservation and etiquette reasons.
