We've camped at the Baby Doe campground almost every summer for the past 15 years. Camp Hosts Roy and Sara are by far the best Baby Doe hosts we have met during that time. They are friendly, helpful, and manage the campground in a way that supports camp rules without being abrasive or unpleasant. Baby Doe is a great place for families with children. If you want a party site, go somewhere else. If you want a relaxing, peaceful experience, Baby Doe is the ticket!

Great campground; we stayed at site 16 and had plenty of room for 2 tents and two cars. Wooded and shady. Had good cell service (LTE, AT&T). Bathrooms were super clean. If you want to put up hammocks, tarps for rain cover or clothesline you’ll need to bring straps - no line or rope is allowed around trees due to the damage it can cause to the trees. Straps are ok.

We were in lot 30 in the middle of one of the loops. It was a decent site with some incline in it. It has two bathrooms within a short distance and the lake wasn’t too far (but I wish it was closer). No bear boxes. The hosts came by and introduced themselves and provided us with a map of Turquoise Lake and the nearby valley which was very helpful. The only downside was that this campground was a combo of tent/RVs. The idling diesel trucks and generators did infringe on the peace.

Campground & vault restrooms were kept very clean. Not being informed ahead of time that camper freshwater tank filling & dump station facilities would not be available was inexcusable and a giant inconvenience! We were unprepared to spend multiple nights without onboard water on a trip involving prepaid reservations at another lodging facility immediately following our stay at Baby Doe.
We would not trust recreation.gov for future camping facility information without double-checking with a live person for their authenticity. Breakdowns can occur, but having our rv requirements & contact info and not attempting to prepare us for such inconveniences is just plain irresponsible. I believe I’m due an apology & discount!
