MAY QUEEN

About May Queen

May Queen Campground is located at the far western end of Turquoise Lake in a shaded lodgepole pine forest. Conveniently perched near the Charles Boustead Memorial Tunnel, May Queen offers easy access to boating, fishing and hiking. Incredible views of the Holy Cross and Mount Massive Wildernesses can be seen from the area, and visitors are likely to see native wildlife like chipmunks, beavers and porcupines. The Charles Boustead Memorial Tunnel is a 5.5-mile tunnel that transports water from the Fryingpan and Roaring Fork River Basins through the Continental Divide to the Arkansas River Basin by emptying water into Turquoise Lake.

Nice campground but most sites are far from the lake. Probably would go for other campsites on Turquoise Lake next time.

This is one of my favorite all time campgrounds. Right at the back you can go right into the lake with kayaks/canoes and the view is absolutely breathtaking. If you get a site off a bit from the road, it’s super secluded feeling and there’s good tree cover. Highly recommend for tent campers!

Beautiful trails to walk and site are close to the lake and river. Site hosts are extremely friendly and each site is a pull-through making it easy to drive in and out.

All of the sites are great. The campground host has wonderful hiking suggestions. Great place to stay with kids of hiking/exploring age.

It was a very nice and quiet campground. We had a beautiful remote site toward the back of the park. The facilities were very clean. My only complaint were the mosquitos, flies and bees while cooking (it was due to a rainy spring and unavoidable). Bring repellent and citronella candles! Beautiful hiking trails were very close with abundant wild flowers and lakes! I highly recommend May Queen campground.

  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.

    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee.
