Very nice campground. However, it has not have water for a few years so plan accordingly. The reservoir is at its lowest at the moment.

Make sure to bring plenty of blankets and an extra buddy heater in case one breaks. It was that cold . Also if your handicap I would not recommend. They do not want you using your car to drive to the bathroom if you are too far to walk.

Great campground next to excellent trails and the beautiful Turquoise Lake

The site, including the table, was clean when we arrived, and the restroom nearby was clean as well. This site has no level spot for a tent with exception of the driveway where you'd park. There are random rocks all over to trip on, and the site closest to this one is above it, so your neighbors can look down into your site. The fire pit is an out-dated style where you cannot move the grill (which I'd never use) out of the way reducing the usable space of the pit by half. The fire pit is filled with concrete making turning over your fire with dirt impossible. There is a stand-up style grill in the site as well for no good reason, with a pile of rocks right next to it. There aren't any bear boxes in any of the sites which have become commonplace in the National Forest. We were told that without one, we'd need to take all of our food and drinks with us when we went to the boat ramp. Speaking of the boat ramp, it has the worst dock I've ever used. It's T shaped which reduces the usable space of the ramp, and if you are day tripping with a boat, Advenco, who manages parking and the campsites, does not honor the America the Beautiful pass for half price day use parking, currently $11. The area is beautiful and the fishing is pretty good too, but this site is over priced at $30 a night currently. Pike-San Isabel and the contractor Advenco need to do some serious work on upgrades for us to camp overnight here again.

Nice campground. This spot is a bit narrow for a full width trailer, but it works. Campground Host was fantastic. Not close to another site, full shade.

Very quiet. Having a water source would be nice, but not a huge deal if you plan accordingly.

Getting There
From Leadville, Colorado, drive west on County Road 4 and follow signs to the Turquoise Lake Recreation Area. Turn right on County Road 9C and follow to the campground entrance on the right.

General
- Water will NOT be available in this campground in 2026. Please bring enough water for your needs, including water to fully extinguish your campfire. Also, the RV Dump Stations at both Printer Boy & White Star Campgrounds will remain closed this season.
- Maximum of 8 people are permitted to occupy 1 site.
- 3 tent maximum per site, or 1 RV and 2 tents.
- Nightly fee includes parking for 2 vehicles. $11.00 nightly fee for a 3rd vehicle. An RV or Boat/ATV trailer is counted as 1 vehicle.
- Dogs, including service and therapy dogs, must be leashed at all times.
- Generators may not be operated after; CPAP machines and other medical equipment are not exempt.
- Be bear aware. Do not leave any food unattended at your site. Lock inside your vehicle or RV.
- OHVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes are not permitted to operate in any campground
- Firearms and fireworks are not permitted
- No hookups available
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
