Very nice campground! Nestled in the woods near a beautiful lake and it seems every spot is nice spot. The camp host is very nice, super helpful and the bathrooms are very clean. Good reception for TMobile and Verizon for those who need it.
However it is disappointing that no water is available.

Campground is beautiful and sites are spacious. Bathrooms were foul, though, and unusable by Saturday morning.

Great spot at Turquoise Lake! We were in #37 which was conveniently close to the clean vault toilet and access to the nature trail down to the lake. Hiked the lake trail one day we were there and found it crazy windy at the campgrounds down by the lake - glade we were up in the forest! Group up the hill from us was quite noisy at night but we couldn't hear them at all (niece staying in #38 could!). Able to get this spot for a mid-week stay on short notice which was nice. Never saw the folks show up for spot #36 which always makes me furious. How about a new rule where if people don't show up for their reservation, they can't make advance reservations anymore??

What we experienced while camping at Silver Dollar Campground from June 1 to June 5 was very disturbing. The campground was 80% empty during our whole stay. These sites were marked "open" One of our sites was so sloping that we could barely level the trailer. The host said that she could not move us to one of the many other sites as someone might want to reserve them.
However, when we looked on line, each of these "open" sites (as marked by on the post by each site), was listed as "unavailable" on the Recreation.gov web site. No one looking for a campsite at Silver Dollar campground would be able to reserve any of these sites and would assume that they could not camp there. As a result, the campground remained 80% empty when there were likely many persons hoping to camp.
Recreation. gov does not seem to be communicating with the Concessionaires. As a result, it is unnecessarily difficult to find an campsite. We hope that Recreation.gov will remedy having campsites listed as "unavailable" when they are indeed open.
We also would encourage Recreation.gov to levy a several hundred dollar penaty to campers who reserve a campsite but decide not to show up without notifying Reservation.gov that they need to cancel their reservation.

we were to meet other campers. site said no room, there were many sites available and we were unable to pick a better level as signs said only 2 days avail. this changed every two days for another the two days leaving the camp site never used.
both the hosts and rec. gov said not their problem..... pathetic program

Nice heavily treed spot and short walk to water and beach…beautiful sunsets.
No bugs to speak of.
Saw blue moon later in evening. Used the fire ring to smore and cook hot dogs.
Toilets were conveniently close to our #19 spot but a bit smelly.

From Leadville, Colorado, drive west on County Road 4 and follow signs to the Turquoise Lake Recreation Area. Turn right on County Road 9C and follow to the campground entrance on the right.

General
- Water will NOT be available in this campground in 2026. Please bring enough water for your needs, including water to fully extinguish your campfire. Also, the RV Dump Stations at both Printer Boy & White Star Campgrounds will remain closed this season.
- Maximum of 8 people are permitted to occupy 1 site.
- 3 tent maximum per site, or 1 RV and 2 tents.
- Nightly fee includes parking for 2 vehicles. $11.00 nightly fee for a 3rd vehicle. An RV or Boat/ATV trailer is counted as 1 vehicle.
- Dogs, including service and therapy dogs, must be leashed at all times.
- Generators may not be operated after; CPAP machines and other medical equipment are not exempt.
- Be bear aware. Do not leave any food unattended at your site. Lock inside your vehicle or RV.
- OHVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes are not permitted to operate in any campground
- Firearms and fireworks are not permitted
- No hookups available
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
