What Guests Are Saying
Silver Dollar Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting with spacious, shaded sites and easy access to hiking and the lake, making it a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts. Camp hosts are generally friendly and maintain clean facilities, enhancing the overall experience. However, some guests reported issues with site suitability for larger rigs and negative interactions with certain camp hosts, which slightly detracted from their stay.

It's a pleasant hilly campground with ample spaces between sites. My only problem that i've never encountered with several federal campgrounds in Colorado was some rowdy young adults running thru the campground yelling and flashing lights at other tents and campers about 11pm.
The federal and Colorado campgrounds have really jacked up rates and added special charges the last few years. Like i saw in Michigan twenty years ago, raising rates drives out the family campers whose incomes pale in comparison to Colorado and federal employee incomes. A relatively empty campground invites bad behaviors and crime, and the the price increases reduce demand with less overall revenue to support the campgrounds.

We were tent camping so the worst part was finding level ground for our site. There were many others we saw with the same issue. We appreciate the fact sites were spaced out though our neighbors were not looking for the peacefulness of the great outdoors experience with their big screen TV blasting and their generator working none stop. Bathroom were fairly decent. Host was friendly. Not to far from Leadville for a quick run into town.

Beautiful campground with large sites and easy access to the lake.
Unfortunately the restrooms were badly smelling although they were clean

The site had plenty of space and trees for hammocks if you have webbing straps. The lake was a short walk from site 23.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Silver Dollar. The camp host was very welcoming. Mostly we enjoy all the trees in our campsite and how spaced out the sites were. The other sites were close enough that we didn’t feel alone but far enough that we still had privacy. Loved the large amounts of trees spaced out enough for our hammocks too. Beautiful campground!!

On the positive first, nice very wooded campground which is increasingly rare in CO (nice side story though, our meager 170w solar panel never let the batteries dip below 2/3 even though our site was heavily treed). Our site had no one on the driver's side or behind (but there were trails that were used about 50' away). Due to trees and slopes we couldn't put out the awning (campground table, fire ring, and grill were directly behind the trailer and trees blocked the awning which would have been on a slope anyway). No problem with the dinette slide out on driver's side. Downsides--we were next to the bathroom, not a huge deal because most campers were in RVs so not used a ton and only got whiffs a couple times outside. The site is sloped quite a bit so use of a 2x6 and leveler ramps still didn't get us completely level. Also, other reviews are correct you can only enter and exit from opposite direction of the one-way campground road which created an awkward traffic jam on set up. I would not highly recommend this particular site for an RV but it is doable and convenient to the trail leading to the lake. I'll add that some of the lodgepole pines in the campground are exhibiting beetle kill so ultimately this campground will probably be clearcut like other areas around the lake. We love Turquoise Lake so regardless, you'll have a great time.

Great spot! Large camp site and lots of shade. It was pretty quiet through the day and night. Would recommend and visit again!
