There is so much to see and do while staying at Camp Hale Memorial Campground! I'm not an ATV/OHV user, but those we encountered on the many routes in the area were respectful of we pedestrians. Don't forget to look on the west side of US 24 (technically the south side) for trails not welcome to mechanized travelers. The campsites are far apart and were clean, as were the outhouses. A water source would make the campground 5 stars rather than 4. When we ran low on water for other than drinking, I relied on the Eagle river.

This is now one of our all time favorite campsites. It’s was beautiful all around! We were in the one of the site toward the entrance, we like those sites better.
We weren’t there on a sunny day, but there were plenty of trees to shelter your site from other sites.
Restroom facilities were very clean. Close to Leadville.
Would definitely go again!

I think I was there on the last day the host was actually the host, because he was loudly talking about his bad experience in being the host and how he supposedly treated by the “manager” of whatever organization manages them. I’m glad I didn’t bring my kids because there were multiple f-bombs being thrown about by him very loudly. The campground was fantastic, this aside.

Loved our stay at Camp Hale. The Camp Host Daniel and his dog Justus helped to make the experience feel as much like a community as a campground. Secluded but close to 24hwy, you are still only about 20 minutes to Leadville and amenities. We stayed over the 4th of July weekend and fished, rode bikes and enjoyed the campfire rings each evening with smores. The campground was full but it didn't feel crowded.
