The campground has a spectacular view and was well kept. The walk to the falls was well worth it and not long.
The only bad part of the stay was finding campers squatting on my site. They did leave my site after an hour. Local Law Enforcement was very helpful.

This was a near-perfect site. Staying here let us do the falls early morning, so we had them to ourselves, no bugs, great views, and nicely spread out from other campers. Easy walks to toilets from all sites. Ideal.

This place was very clean and had a great view of the sunset. One of the highlights of our stay. You have a view of the Great Sand Dunes near the camp entrance. The camp hosts were awesome!

Beautiful site— gorgeous view of the valley. Water would be nice but we were warned so brought plenty.

I loved this place high up on a ridge overlooking the valley. The sites are nicely spaced out, and quite affordable, but of course that’s because you’re dry camping. Very close to Great Sand Dunes National Park

Sweet campground right next to Zapata Falls hike. There isn't any shade at this campground, so it was pretty quiet during the hot afternoon. Folks starting rolling in, in the later afternoon and the sunset was amazing. Nice spread out sites with clean pit toilets. Definitely would return.

Nice secluded campground far away and significantly higher elevation from the highway. The sites are generally right on the loop road but are well spaced from each other. I didn't have any trouble with noise from other campers. The two bathrooms are situated on the lower side of the loop with steep shortcuts to traverse from the upper side. If you tend to need the bathroom during the night, you may want to stick to the lower side. The views were spectacular with stunning sunsets across the valley. The lower parking lot to the falls got busy early every day we were there and can make traffic a bit heavy on the drive up from the highway. Overall, a quiet convenient base camp for exploring SDNP.

If you want to go to the Great Sand Dunes and see an amazing sunset, this is the place. It is very basic. They provide dirt and a vault toilet. If you want to camp way above everything and see spectacular magic hour sunsets and sunrises, camp here. Highly recommended. It is very high in altitude and the drive is steep.
