We stayed in A006 and it worked well for our two tents. The spot had privacy and close to the bathrooms, but not too close to be annoyed by it. We would stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay. We hiked the following trails: Oak Flat Loop, Uplands, Rim Rock, and Warner Point, as well as each of the lookouts. We did the Oak Flat Loop, Uplands, and Rim Rock trails several times and they were impressive each time! Also took part in the ranger talk on bats at the amphitheater which was educational! The Canyon is beautiful!

The campground was beautiful and the scenery was spectacular! So glad we saw Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The Rim Rock Trail - that leaves from the campground - was awesome!

This was the best value site we stayed on. It was peaceful & we thoroughly enjoyed all the trails through the park. We even saw a baby bear!

A beautiful park. Stunning scenery. A short drive from Montrose Colorado.
Most trails are easy hikes.
Must see the Painted Wall.
The overlook from the Visitor’s Center is beautiful. Tamichi Point is a different gorgeous view you drive up to, and Warner Point is an easy hike for stunning views of a different section of the canyon.
Sun up and sundown are excellent times for photography. Nighttime sky is so full of stars it feels as if you are twice as close to them.
Campground is clean, easy use. Vault toilets are clean and well maintained. Water stations are located at the entrance to each loop, Most campsites are pull through or pull up. Our 26 foot model (really a 29 ft) fit easily into a site which said 21 foot limit. Electric available only on loop B. Easy access to the trail from all three loops.
Easily a one day park but much more fun to stay and explore.

You'll have a great time at Black Canyon if you lower your expectations just a bit. Hiking trails are minimal--you can do them all in less than four hours. Stunning views, but its largely the same view from every viewpoint. Most campsites are surrounded by trees/brush creating privacy. Bring your own water as there is limited water available in the park.

I had a great campsite in loop A across from the restrooms, which were always clean and stocked with toiletries.
The trails were well maintained and rangers in visitors center were friendly and offered helpful suggestions. Conveniently the town of Montrose is less than 30 minutes away if you need camping supplies or food.
