What Guests Are Saying
Matterhorn Campground offers a beautiful setting with friendly and accommodating hosts, making it a popular choice for campers. The facilities, including clean showers and restrooms, received high praise, contributing to an enjoyable stay. While some sites may lack privacy and there were minor issues with outside visitors, the overall experience is highly recommended for its location near Telluride and access to outdoor activities.

Site #19 (non-electric) was very nice, offering a pretty level parking spot, a nice tent pad, and some shade with good privacy on the entrance door side for RVs. The campground seemed well-maintained and managed by the camp hosts, with access to bathrooms and showers. My only complaint is that people tend to drive their vehicles too fast through campgrounds like this with limited sight distance and children running about.

This is our all time favorite campground in Colorado. Thank you so much. The campground hosts this year were first class and so nice and helpful. We appreciate all they do.
There are a lot (many many many) of outside campers coming into this campground and using the shower and bathroom facilities. Typically in the morning the cars are lined up outside the bathroom. This makes it difficult for the campers at the campground and also for the campground hosts who have to continuously clean up after them. The outsiders are supposed to pay an $8 dollar fee to use the showers but I could see inside the small metal box where they are supposed to put money and most never paid at all. Maybe limit outsiders to early afternoon hours not during peak times (mornings) when folks in the campground use the bathrooms/showers. They need to pay before they take the shower. Or do not let outsiders use the bathrooms. Thank you. Bruce and Marianne Marsh

Would definitely recommend this campground! Nice amenities like showers & flush toilets available. Easy access to trails, lakes and only 25 minutes from Telluride. It’s a small campground, but our site (#9) had plenty of privacy and a nearby river made for beautiful white noise at night.

Most amazing campsite with great amenities! Hiking trails directly from the site and a quick ride to the gondola to visit Telluride. Highly recommend this campground!

Road bed horrible, potholes the size of the black bear. All good with that exception.

I just had one night at Matterhorn and look forward to going back. The campsites were lovely, with varying degrees of privacy, and the groves of aspen and high mountain peaks surrounding the campground are stunning. The bathrooms were clean, and I was especially delighted to have a shower at the end of a long, hot day of driving. The highway quieted right down when it got dark, which made it wonderful for sleeping.

The most beautiful scenery. The campground host (young man) was very accommodating in helping us change our site. We needed a tent pad and not the pull through that were put in. The bathroom /shower was a pleasant surprise. Love this part of Colorado.

Matterhorn is a wonderful place for us. We love the high country and the quiet lushness of the forest. The campground has been our favorite for almost 20 years. It is much busier now that in years past, and being successful getting a reservation online is tricky. The campground hosts were relaxed and just engaged enough to make it successful.
