Such a gorgeous location! All the tent sites are walking distance to the lake, with shade and near quirky rock formations for the kids to climb on. Restrooms were so clean, even after 2 days of rain. The camp hosts did an excellent job! Camp spot was one of the cleanest I've seen. We usually have the kids pick up 10 pieces of trash prior to leaving and it took 3 times as long as most campgrounds.
We hiked the trail around the lake, which is a flat easy hike for kids. Fishing was a few steps away from camp.
I hate to complain about well lit bathrooms, but the tent spots at 18, 19 were in direct path of a very bright light above the latrines. Had to sit with back to it to enjoy a campfire, as it was too bright to look into.

This campground is beautiful and well maintained. It's easy to see why spots are so hard to come by.

Dowdy lake is a wonderful family friendly campground! The lake is gorgeous and the campsite itself has a tent pad, fire pit, table and bench. We were right by the lake so we were woken up by a big group of geese but that’s to be expected for our proximity to the lake.

After we arrived we were told to evacuate due to fire. It would have been nice to receive a communication before our arrival date.
