The sites are incredibly large and well equipped. There is a bear box, flat area for tents, campfire ring, and picnic table. Other sites are close but the trees provide decent coverage. We loved walking straight to trails and to the lake.

We always use the Walk In sites. They are more secluded, quiet, no RVs & generators. The camp hosts this summer were from Colorado and so nice & friendly. It is an easy walk to Brainard Lake. Beautiful area. It's a wonderful mountain getaway for us.

My wife and I love the Pawnee Campground tent sites and Brainard Lake! The campground and restrooms are kept meticulously clean. The only down side, it's always hard to get a few days booked because of its popularity. :) Out favorite place in Northern Colorado and a short drive from home!

Our end of the season camping experience was wonderful. Our walk-in campsite was cleaned and ready for us and the bathrooms were pristine!
The next day we hiked from Brainard Lake to within sight of the Isabell Glacier, but had to turn back due to weather.

An amazingly beautiful area. Campground was excellent with excellent hosts who kept it spotless. Brainard Lake is very close to the campground. The whole recreation area was very well managed.
We hiked to Lake Isabelle the first day, then to Blue lake the second. Both trails offered beautiful views, saw quite a few Moose and other wildlife. Although the weather was a bit inclement at times, quite a bit of rain. It was a fantastic experience for us and we will be back.
