What Guests Are Saying

Stove Prairie offers a beautiful camping experience along the Poudre River, with many guests appreciating the soothing sounds of the water and the friendly camp host. While some noted issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms and the presence of non-paying day visitors, the overall atmosphere and proximity to nature, along with nice walking trails, make it a desirable spot. Campers enjoyed family-friendly activities and the scenic environment, though some expressed frustrations over the camp host's demeanor and additional fees.

The positives - being close to the river makes the issue of being so close to the highway a non-issue. The camp host was very friendly and helpful, and while he had enough of a presence that we knew we were covered if we needed anything, he did not hover. The walking trails around the campground and river were really nice and easily accessible for campers. The not so great - I believe that this stop is a frequent "pit stop" for people who need a restroom. So, given that there is just one bathroom for all of us campers, it got...messy...pretty quickly. It was in near perfect condition when we arrived, not so much by the next morning, despite it being cleaned up. I believe a lot of traffic also comes through to check for campsites since first come first serve is available. We had a lot of people driving through checking sites. Beautiful location and well worth it if you're in the area.

Camp host this year was…interesting and a bit rude…also didn’t fill the toilet paper the whole time we were there. But the area is always so nice so will be back regardless.
