What Guests Are Saying
West Chicago Creek campground is a quiet and well-maintained site with clean bathrooms, friendly hosts, and beautiful surroundings, including easy access to hiking trails and a lovely creek. While there is no water on-site, it is conveniently located near Idaho Springs for supplies. Some sites are closer together and may require careful arrangement, but overall, visitors enjoy the peaceful experience and scenic atmosphere.

It's a beautiful place. However, I drive there from Florida and start to set up my hammock, which is how I sleep when I camp. So the host, very nice man, tells me hammocks are not allowed. I took my hammock and hid back in the woods. That's nuts.

Great location for camping! It is not too far from the city at all, but you still get the isolated mountain feel. I don't like how close the sites in the middle are to each other, you basically end up camping WITH your neighbor, but the outer sites are perfect! This was one of my first camping experiences and it was perfect!

Small Campground. Vehicle access - not designed for huge RV's based on multiple switchbacks on single lane dirt road. The peacefulness was amazing...

Everything was great except the camp host made us throw all of our extra firewood and kindling into the woods before we left. I understand you're trying to sell firewood to the campers, but throwing piles of cut, dead wood into the forest is inconsistent with proactive fire prevention measures.
