What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

Would not recommend this site for tents – hard to find a flat spot, no dedicated tent pad, and also very little shade. Sites also felt fairly close together. The pros are: the restrooms at this campground are very clean and have running water, and hiking trails start directly in the campground. Loved the park, just would probably grab a different campsite next time.

It was a bad experience. When I got to my reserved camp site there was still someone there. No people just the equipment so the park rangers took it apart for me to occupy it, off course It was three hours after the set time. I decided it to skip it and avoid having to deal with an angry camper later that day/ night and explain what happened to their camping gear. Bad resolution by the people in charge when I could see other camp sites available nearby.

Outstanding campground in a park I underestimated. The facilities are very nice and clean. Very close to the ampitheater, trails and a quick walk to the sand dunes.

Site was beautiful, great view of the sand dunes. Close proximity to the bathroom. Good space from other sites.

Great location in relation to the dunes and visitor center. The nighttime Ranger programs were a highlight! We really liked site #18, however site #20 looked easier to maneuver an RV on the upper size limit, but we managed it in #18. Great views of the dunes!

Stayed in loop 2, which did not have views but had plenty of trees and shade. The sites were separated by a reasonable amount of forest growth, which allowed for some privacy. We had plenty of level space in the tent pad for two small tents. This park is far from any services and supplies, so come prepared (eg, firewood). There was a small store with signage that indicated it would be open during the day, but was never open the two days we were there. We did not bring firewood and wished we had. The restrooms were clean and modern, compared to other NP campgrounds we have stayed in. The campground was full both nights, and in general people were respectful and quiet. The dunes were a blast to visit.
