What Guests Are Saying
Pinon Flats Campground is well-regarded for its friendly camp host, Nancy, and beautifully maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and stunning views of the sand dunes. The campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, ample tree cover, and easy access to hiking trails. However, some sites are small and not fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, and issues with noise from other campers have been noted. Overall, it is a memorable camping experience with great amenities.

Piñon Flats was beautiful. A direct view of the majestic dunes at sunset as we arrived, and a dawn view of them, within an easy walk, made our stay there worth handling the bugs and lack of other amenities.

Site 36 had a great view of the dunes. Bathrooms had TP and running water. See the milky way on a clear night

Decent, the fromt office should probably ignore calls from old people complaining and not stop by just to appease them.

Bathrooms were slightly dated.
Personnel including rangers, volunteers, and hosts were well trained, very kind and very informative. Our visit was an outstanding experience for us!
Thank you.

The new updates to the park are great such as the trash receptacles (which were emptied daily) and the restroom facilities. We have been going to the GSDNP the past 12 years and love every visit !

Clean campsites and clean bathrooms. The north end of the dunes are easy to walk to. If you Google maps, you can find a site with plenty of shade.

This was a great campsite but we couldn’t leave five starts because the site was so insanely unlevel that even with three sets of leveling blocks we couldn’t get our short camper anywhere close to level- it was 8” off from front to back. Plus the camp store wasn’t open during the posted hours, not a problem for us but could be a big deal if someone is counting on that for supplies and it is a bummer not to be able to purchase firewood. The park itself was phenomenal and greatly surpassed expectations.

Incredible! Some of the best stars I've ever seen, clean, pretty campground with good facilities and close access to park attractions, and we met a very cool guy with a telescope who let us look at celestial bodies!
