What Guests Are Saying
Cow Creek South is a popular campground known for its beautiful views, great lake access, and well-maintained facilities. We had a nice time. Really nice campsite in the sagebrush country on water. The Apple Maps took us 15miles in a different direction to dispersed camping. Be sure to read the directions on the email!

It was a very long walk to the water, due to the lowest levels ever, and the hosts were quite rude.

Beautiful site and toilets are very clean! The camp manager was very helpful and as I'd inadvertently booked only one night, instead of two, she let us know where there was a cancellation-site right next to ours-so it was an easy transfer.

The bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen in a campground! Very well maintained camp sites too. Only regret the water line was so low but that's not something you can help. Thanks for a great group camp-out!

Overall loved the bear box for the storage of food and flat space for the tent. Great first camping trip for the family! Very clean toilets!

Tech problems but staff seem great and responsive
Couldn’t cancel it said unavailable. The camp host reached out to me on the second day. Nice they are on it and available but wish I could have cancelled when I tried for a refund.

The site had no trees which was the only but significant negative. The sites were large and spaced out. The bathrooms were clean and had soft tp and trash cans. The lake was in easy walking distance. Beware or wind as storms move through quickly but just as quickly they pass. If coming from the northern front range consider driving over trail ridge road, it’s a beautiful drive in.

The double sites are not anything more than they were over the years, they just cost more. There are now bear boxes at each site.
Used to be close to the water when the reservoir was higher, it is a walk to the water now.

Setting is beautiful! The campsite itself had no shade, very dusty, and 90 degrees in the afternoon. Not what we had hoped for in Colorado camping. We did have a good time despite the shortcomings. Visited nearby towns; Leadville, Silverthorne, Breckinridge (ER visit for migraine complicated by heat and elevation), couple restaurants here and there. Brought the kayaks which were quite enjoyable on the lake. Went down to Idaho Springs to go rafting with Liquid Decent- good trip. Probably going to try harder to stay around Twin Lakes or the Leadville area next time.
