A beautiful place but we ended up not staying because it was mosquito infested. Had over 30 mosquitos in our car alone while we were trying to leave the place. I've never seen anything like it and I've camped a lot throughout the years. Ended up staying in a hotel for the night.

All was excellent, the volunteers were excellent except for one. The volunteer next to the bath house was unpleasant. When I came to the entrance hut, he was using his phone, not a conversation and when he looked up from the phone he ignored me and went back to whatever he was doing.

Was able to get a one night reservation. Upon arrival was greeted by the volunteer campground host who was extremely nice and helpful. Grounds were clean and well cared for. Very quiet campground. The next morning the host called me and said she had a cancellation if I was interested. I immediately took it. We enjoyed watching boats at the locks and relaxing. This is a great place to visit.

Stayed here for two weeks on our trawler boat. All the people we met here were pleasant and interesting. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Facilities were clean and area was well kept. Visitor center was interesting. It is a nice campground and we enjoyed our visit. We used the Florida pump out location application to locate nearest pump out for our boat only a little over a mile away but when we went there they were not willing to pump out our boat. They have the equipment but do not want to bother to do the pump outs. Without going through the lock the next closest station is a 15 mile boat trip west there and 15 mile back 30 miles total. If you go through the lock it is about a 15 mile round trip to get a pump out in Stuart. Our two trips through the St Lucie lock were disappointing as the lock-master on duty for them was a poor communicator, lackluster, not safety conscientious, and inefficient. The Lock -master on duty did not answer on repeated radio calls and once when they did they did not answer our questions. On our second passage they mislead us on when to enter the lock. We wasted fuel going in circles awaiting the lock opening when they actually told us to cast off of lines now and come right into the lock but they had not even filled the lock chamber. The campground was wonderful, the lock master needs remediation training or replacement.

Friendly staff and clean park at an excellent location, near the highway but not close enough to hear the road noise. Site 7 has a shared driveway entrance with site 8 which was not expected. Makes it tight to park for larger rigs. Great small park and enjoyed watching the lock as boats passed regularly all day.
