What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The day I arrived the 50 amp service shorted out against the side of the electrical panel. I went to the host and reported it and they said it would be the next day before anyone could come look at it. The next day they found it was a broken wire underground that had shorted out and had to get an excavator to dig it up and repair the broken wire. They were very courteous and fixed the problem around 1pm. You would think that they would have someone on call but they told me no.

Enjoyed our stay here at site 6A during the Masters. Loved all the waterfront sites. Restrooms were clean and even had free washer and dryer! Would love to stay here again

We have been camping at Petersburg for almost 20 years. Our experience is usually great, however not so much this last trip. We stayed during Masters week in Augusta, which usually means the campground is booked at 100% capacity. We were surprised to see the guard gate was hardly maned. Also, the C loop shower house had signs on it that said it was out of hot water and to go to another campground bathhouse. C loop consists of smaller campsites which draws mainly tent campers and non electric so this is probably the bathhouse most heavily used. 2 days from packing up I realized the hot water was either fixed or had never been out to begin with but the sign was left up. This bathhouse was also out of soap (we donated some of ours) and it looked like the stalls had just been sprayed with chemicals and never wiped down. This was very unfortunate for one of their busiest weeks of the year. The site to the left of ours was covered in leaves and grass and trash, like it had not been maintained. We also had the campground host/volunteer ask if we were “just not going to leave”. I showed them on my phone we had the proper booking, and they apologized and said they were having computer problems. Again this campground usually has an air of excitement and organization, especially this week of the year. I remember years past there were even games like horseshoes set up at various spots . It was unexpected to have deviated so much from its normal operating standard. It’s a beautiful place to stay and convenient to town.

Amazing site right on the water. Gravel could use a refresh and maybe some additional grading to better control runoff. In a heavy rain situation (which we didn’t experience), it was apparent that the site, sitting between higher ground and the lake, would not be a pleasant place.
Overall we had an amazing time and campground was fantastic.
