What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

Beautiful large sires! Especially appreciate the gravel covered sites that do not get muddy in the rain & drain quickly!

It was clean and kept up. The lake was down but it was a drought season. Nice and quiet.
Just what I expected.

The clean-up is going great just a little slow but the camp ground is looking great. Boat ramp is open. Only one section with 23 or 24 sites open the rest is still closed for clean-up and upgrades.

It was quite a bad trip this time! Brought my boat this time and parked it on the shore in front of my campsite. Being that the lake is so low there was nothing to tie the boat to so I stuck the foot of the motor down into the mud to keep it from floating off. The next morning the boat was gone! I reported it missing to the sheriff’s department and they contacted GDNR. It had floated off because of the lake water level was apparently raised that night. To make matters worse the next day after I got enough rope to tie it off, the Corp lowered the lake level and my boat was grounded in the mud and couldn’t be moved. So, to sum it up, the trees are gone and the lake level goes up and down unexpectedly without any warning to make our week stay a pretty miserable visit!

Beautiful park that is recovering slowly but nicely from the hurricane 2 years ago. This will be our go to when visiting our daughter!

This park is fantastic. Spots are very spacious and room to roam the park. Seems like every spot looks good.
