What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with spacious, clean campsites and friendly staff, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Many visitors appreciate the gorgeous scenery, access to the lake, and the opportunity to see wildlife like armadillos and woodpeckers. Although there are some lingering effects from Hurricane Helene, including tree damage and a need for improvements in certain facilities, overall feedback suggests a positive camping experience.

I stayed in loop A, the only area open year-round. Its sites are all located along the shore of the lovely lake and are placed in such a way that, despite the massive loss of trees from Hurricane Helene, there is privacy and a view of the water. This time of the year there aren't a lot of campers, and that generally means a peaceful environment. Kudos to the many park employees and local loggers who worked
so diligently to restore this lovely camping area. Roger Marin Aiken, SC

It was great to see the newly renovated campsites. They were spacious, level, well spaced out from the other sites. Even though hurricane Helene did major damage to the area, was great to see things coming back together and opening up.

We were so happy to be back at our corp of engineers campground. It was devastated by hurricane Helene, but it looks like Petersburg will be looking much better this spring and summer. They have done a great deal of work and we really appreciate it.

So nice to have the park opened up again. It looks so much different since Helene but it is still beautiful. It seems like all of the sites are spacious and you are not right on top of your neighbor

We always enjoy our stays at Petersburg Campground. We find the lake peaceful and relaxing. We watched a family of eagles and beavers . Unfortunately hurricane Helene came thru and downed hundreds of trees.
