What Guests Are Saying
Petersburg Campground features friendly staff and well-maintained, clean facilities, making it a pleasant place to stay. Many campers appreciate the spacious, diverse sites and beautiful views, despite ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene, which has affected some amenities and scenery. While there are some drawbacks, such as restroom accessibility and low lake water levels, the overall experience remains positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Beautiful! The cleanest campground I have been to. Everyone works hard to care for the campground and the people staying here. Sites are spaced nicely with trees for privacy. Many sites are on the water and give you magnificent views. I was ready to go buy a kayak and spend time on this lake. Our site was in a cove and most days the water was like glass. Hosts and Ranger are friendly and very helpful. Excellent single track bicycle trails and hiking. A great place to visit!!

Camp sites are spaced so each is private, and each is clean and well organized. The showers and bathrooms are convenient to all sites, and they too are clean. And the views are spectacular.

Beautiful campground. As a “newbie” to camping, I very much appreciated the drive through sites. I was expecting a quiet enjoyable experience. And, it was enjoyable, but not quiet. Sounded like a construction zone most days. Not sure, other than leaf blowers every day, what else was happening. Lots of trucks and workmen. I understand maintenance has to happen. Just wish I could have been there at another time when it wasn’t going on.

A nice pleasant relaxing get-away camping trip was negatively impacted every morning for 1-2 hours by the sounds of a loud leaf blower. Revving up, shutting down, revving up... blowing....blowing...
The serenity of the lake and a beautiful morning campfire is ruined by hearing leaf blowing every morning for 1-2 hours. Let the leaves be! Someone sitting in an office probably thinks leaf free roads and campsites are VERY important. They aren’t! And because water amplifies sound, the blower could be quite a distance away and still be quite loud.My time was negatively impacted and I don’t appreciate that. You may think it’s not that big a deal - let someone crank up next to your house every morning on your day off and run it 1-2 hours and see how you like it.

We have a very large rig (43' fifth wheel) and site 45 was very difficult for us to get into and get level. Beautiful site, great view, but not super big rig friendly-- at least for our skill level!
