As we have found in the past, the site hosts went out of the way to help us. The biggest disappointment is with the management of The Corp of Engineers, they are closing sites, prematurely. We use sites all year round, as do a large number of retirees. We have limited time to enjoy the outdoors, not just because we are getting to a stage where we won’t be able to, but because COE management are reducing ‘our time’ that we can enjoy the outdoors.
Note for COE management -Families use the campgrounds at weekends, outside of school holidays, and some retirees like to book 14 days in early spring and late fall.

love COE campgrounds. Please do not transfer to a county to maintain !!! Please keep Winfield open year round. The counties up and price and don't honor our senior passes. Winfield is the cleanest campground I've ever been to.

One of our best camping trips. We stayed on campsite 32, one we stayed on when our children we little. Brought back a lot of memories.

One of the nicest campgrounds we have ever visited. The site was plenty large, well maintained, and the view was great. Spacing between campsites was plenty.

Excellent place to camp. The people that run the campground are great. Very nice & keep the place very clean. They know the area & have suggestions for help if you need it.
The ants are a really big problem on some of the sites. I would suggest a good spray for your camper or tent.
The sunsets are the best. Views of the lake can be seen from almost every site. Sites are pretty big & some are very private.
Try Maggie Jayne’s SnowCone place if you bring kids. It’s great. And they welcome dogs.
Baby Jo’s is a great place to eat or take out. But go early because they run out of the best food.
The only downside of Winfield is that they are not open year round.
