We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite! From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful, clean, and well taken care of. The campsites were spacious and gave just the right amount of privacy, while still feeling safe and welcoming. The natural surroundings were absolutely beautiful—perfect for relaxing, exploring, and unplugging from the busyness of everyday life.
The facilities were very well maintained, including the restrooms and common areas, which made a huge difference in our overall experience. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into keeping the campground in great shape. We also appreciated how quiet it was at night—perfect for sitting by the campfire and enjoying the sounds of nature.
Whether you’re camping with family, friends, or just looking for a peaceful getaway, this is definitely a spot I would recommend. We made so many great memories here and are already looking forward to coming back!

The campground is very well kept, the lake is beautiful, however, be aware that the lake levels are far below normal. But that gives you a chance to have a beach type experience.

Arrived without a reservation. The man at the gate said to pull off the road and go on line to reserve a spot. Went very smoothly and I enjoyed my 2 night stay.

As we have found in the past, the site hosts went out of the way to help us. The biggest disappointment is with the management of The Corp of Engineers, they are closing sites, prematurely. We use sites all year round, as do a large number of retirees. We have limited time to enjoy the outdoors, not just because we are getting to a stage where we won’t be able to, but because COE management are reducing ‘our time’ that we can enjoy the outdoors.
Note for COE management -Families use the campgrounds at weekends, outside of school holidays, and some retirees like to book 14 days in early spring and late fall.

love COE campgrounds. Please do not transfer to a county to maintain !!! Please keep Winfield open year round. The counties up and price and don't honor our senior passes. Winfield is the cleanest campground I've ever been to.

One of our best camping trips. We stayed on campsite 32, one we stayed on when our children we little. Brought back a lot of memories.
