We lived across the water in Bridgemill for 9 years and never knew that this gem existed! Beautiful lakefront and lakeview level campsites.

Our first experience with Sweetwater was excellent. We only stayed for one night, on Labor Day. The park was closing the n Ct day or we would have stayed longer. It was quiet, I suspect unusually due to timing. We had beautiful views of the lake and enjoyed the walk around the park.

Park ranger came around on day 2 - told the kids she was out of cards. She promised she would be around later that evening and give them each 2. She never came back. The next day we had a different park ranger and he claimed he was out of cards and didn't really care about interacting with the kids.. bathrooms are absolutely disgusting!

This was my sister and I's first time camping and we felt so spoiled with this site, the view of the water and surrounding woods are absolutely gorgeous! Ended up having no neighbors in our loop at all so it was very secluded. Only rating 4 stars due to the fact that the bathrooms were too far to walk and BE WARNED, there was a small hive of bees living in one of the railroad ties leading down to the water. We only found out because my sister disturbed them by using it as a surface to hack apart a branch for firewood and got swarmed lmao. Though they left us alone for the rest of the trip. Also, a raccoon stole our hot dog buns on the first night right in front of our noses.

I have been camping at Sweetwater for several years and always found the campground well taken care of until my most recent visit. The COE has recently decided to only cut the grass once a month, and has failed to remove numerous logs and debris washed up into the campground. General maintenance has been cut so much that campers are bringing their own rakes, string trimmers, and even mowers to trim around their campsites. In my opinion, the campground has started looking overgrown and unappealing.
The COE recently also changed the check-out time from 3:00 pm to 11:00 am, and none of the campers I spoke with were happy with this change.
Unfortunately I will not be returning to Sweetwater campground until the COE reinstates the maintenance that made camping such a pleasure at this location.
