Was a beautiful weekend! Stayed on site #20 for the first time. Nice and shaded and had a path down to the lake. Can’t wait to catch it open again, but looks like it’ll have to be next year.

The site was terrible and dangerous. Very narrow. When you got out of your camper, you nearly stepped off the pad. There was less than 6 inches past the steps. From the pad it was a huge drop off, with huge chunks of uneven hard to cross rock (not gravel) next to the pad. You had to go across holding onto your camper because the picnic area was in the rear of your camper. Poor set up. Poorly designed. Needs a deck like the one above and below that extends the walking area to have a safe path to at least get to the back and the table! I fell three times, my daughter fell, my husband slipped 4 times in 3 days! We would not recommend this sight to anyone! In fact it should be closed until it’s safe! We were so excited to get in at Woodring only to be so disappointed in 12! The trees coming itn from 282 are too low as well. They drag across every camper top and sides.

When we went the lady and the older gentleman who were watching over the campground were amazing. Helped us when we couldn’t find the beach and was even kind enough to give us a bug spray because we sadly forgot ours.

What can I say, the campground is very nice and the sites are great. But... the management needs work. First of all, the garbage was collected in a large open dumpster. We were there for two weeks and the garbage was never picked up or emptied. After the Memorial Day weekend it was overflowing and the birds and animals were throwing it around. This was right on the main road through the campground. It was pretty bad!
Secondly, they built a new shower house/bathroom building with 5 total rooms (4 with showers) for the entire campground. The combo shower/toilet rooms flooded so you had to walk in water to use the toilet. If someone was taking a shower, that room was unavailable for a while. And to top it off, one toilet stopped working, so that room was out of service for the whole last week we were there.

My family camped for here for four nights at site 20 in the developed camping area. Although these campsites are set up for RVs they are spacious enough for tents as well which is what we stayed in. We loved our site it was very clean and there was a path that we could walk down to a private beach just behind our site. This was absolutely wonderful as we brought several kayaks and were able to keep them down on our little private beach and head out onto the lake with ease. There is a good bit of poison ivy in the woods around the sites so watch out for that. Site 20 has big trees all around it so is mostly shaded but water is still visible from the campsite. The campgrounds bathroom and shower facilities were a short walk from the site and the building looked brand new and very clean. We will definitely plan on staying here again. One thing to note is that when you stay at one of the campgrounds on carters lake you have access privileges to all of the campgrounds and parks on the lake that are managed by the army corps of engineers. This includes the Harris Branch Beach which is on the other side of the lake but worth a drive in my opinion if you're looking for a nice sandy beach to spend the day at. Overall a very pleasant stay. 😊

This campground is a gem. The lake offers a great way to cool off, and the sites are well maintained.

Woodring is one on the best campgrounds ever! The spaces are great and the views are absolutely beautiful. The only negative is the campground is closed from Labor Day through the end of May. It should stay open year round!
