My campsite (#29) was down a hill and as it was raining -- difficult and slippery. I had alot of problems trying to remove my sway bars as my camper was at a different angle as my tow vehicle. I guess I should have removed them before backing up. Site is very close to bathroom facility, however, that one was closed and had to hike up the hill to the one in use. It was a very nice bathroom, just not as convenient as the one closer to campsite that was closed. The lake water levels were down -- but understandable during this time of year. Also, there are squatters in this campground. Several of the other campers in my group -- as well as myself -- noticed this. Not a bad location as close to Blue Ridge -- just a few issues that need to be addressed.

Camp sites are spaced out nicely. We stayed in site 8 which is a double but really only enough room for 1 rv and 1 tent. It is a water site. Clean bathrooms. This is a zero alcohol campground. We didn’t have time to spend on the lake but it looks like there is kayak rental.

Enjoyed our stay in early November 2022 and the scenery we had of the changing leaves and views of the lake were very nice. Stayed on site #10 which was NOT very flat and required lot of blocking under wheels and stabilizer jacks.Camped in a 20ft travel trailer so would have been worse with a longer trailer on this particular site. No sewer hookups but the dump station was a pull- through that was clean and easy to get to and use. The showers / bathroom was VERY clean and well kept and HEATED which was very welcome on the chilly mornings. The showers had a push in type of valve that would run the preset water temp for about 30seconds at a push so had to keep pushing. I know this is a water conservation thing but would have liked it to have lasted at least a minute but minor inconvenience for our stay. We would definitely return to this campground in the future if in the area.

This was a beautiful place to stay. The sites were well maintained and the bathrooms were clean and warm with hot showers. The camp area itself was very quiet at night. My only complaint is that there is just the one bathroom so if your site is far it’s a little hike and there were dogs barking all through the night which may have been from the surrounding neighborhoods. You probably wouldn’t hear them in an RV but we were in a tent and needed to wear ear plugs. Still, I can’t wait to return and bring a kayak for the lake. The sunset over the lake was gorgeous.

An awesome campground! The new restroom on the sites 1thru20 loop was spotless and has heat! This was a solo scouting trip with the pop-up but I'll return with my wife and 5th wheel in March and often afterwards as this COE doesn't shut down and has power.
There were several sites large and flat enough for my 35' 5er, notably #'s 1, 5, 6, 7, 18, 19 &20...others were large but have some leveling issues but not difficult. After site 20, there are 5 ro 6 suitable for my 20' popup but most are tent sites.
The beach is very nice and there are numerous hiking trails in the area like the Benton-MacKaye.

Campers are able to utilize the day use area for free, but if you have a vehicle parked in the day use parking lot then you have to pay the day use fee. You can be dropped off at the day use area and park at your campsite if you like. |
