Outside of not being able to level that trailer it was an amazing experience.

My mom and I host a solos women camping group every year here. We always enjoy this location. Friendly staff, cleanest bath houses around, cleanest campground I've ever been to. Thank you for everything we look forward to coming back

South Marcum is a very nice campground. This site...not so much. Drive slope was terrible, 2.5% from back to front. Drive was narrow without extra parking space like some have. Site was close to the main road through the loop. There is some erosion next to the picnic table exposing some tree roots causing some tripping hazards. It rained some while we were there and the eroded area got pretty muddy. Site was in full sun from early afternoon on.
Site was a short walk to the shower house and bathrooms. Area was quiet with no sites near by. Deer came very close to the site a few times to eat grass.

I thought a little strange on Sunday after all the campers left and didnt seem to have any problem with my son playing in mud puddle by our campsite, 1 of rhe park rangers with white hair was a bit older came by when everybody else was gone and gave me a hard time about my son playing in the mud. Later he arrived to assist another park ranger Madison to harass us with his lights on a few weeka later while we left the campground and was on a main road getting harrassed with his lights on and we wasnt even on the campgeound premises anymore. I thought it was unfriendly and strange behaviors from 2 of the park rangers with an off duty sheriff deputy to harrass me and kept looking at my 4 year-old child? while i also have another disabled adult accompanying us. I thought it was weird for federal recreation.gov campgrounds, I never been harrassed this way.

Felt a bit unwelcoming from about 3 park rangers’ here at Rend Lake. Gave me a hard time about check-in when I already prepaid online via credit card. Park Ranger Madison was a bit unprofessional and her manager Patrick never returned my phone call or got back to me about complaints I had concerning check-in and how I was treated. I did check-in properly at other Rend Lake campgrounds prior to this reservation when told to, however, was a bit unwelcoming for a short stay campground. Check-in at Rend Lake was a bit hostile when we already prepaid via credit card was a bit unwelcoming attitude. They expect people like me to know how to check-in when we never camped at Rend Lake before 2024 (during pandemic was often online at many recreation.gov campgrounds) and staff seemed to be a bit crabby and have bad attitudes in general at Rend Lake. I also have a child and definitely didnt have a child friendly attitude. The few park rangers I came across seemed to think they knew me and discussed how I have stayed here before 2024 but I never remember doing so. was a bit strange to be treated so weird and unfriendly by park rangers who seemed to think they knew me when I don't know any of them.

Need to have more water hook-ups. We had to be very careful about how much water we used so we would not run out.

Nice Campground. 147+ campsites spread out into different sections. However their shower area is not in a convenient area for all sections. Our section did not have a shower area. Not many of the 147+ campsites are very level. Site 16 required 6 inches of blocks on the front tires to level our Class A 36ft RV. Other than the leveling problem we had the campsite is was great. The Campground has a very nice bike/walking path that goes through the campground and around the damn.
