Awesome experience and natural environment at South Marcum COE Campgrounds. This was our first COE campground trip. All employees we met were very friendly, courteous, and professional. Only one bad apple (COE volunteer camper) was noted with fireworks but park officials handled the situation promptly. Overall, we look to returning as well as visiting other COE campgrounds in the future.

Overall good experience. The camp sites in Whispering Pines loop were not very level for RV/trailer camping, requiring a lot of leveling blocks. Whispering pines is in the forest, so there was no grass at the camping spot. Lack of grass meant a lot of ground debris getting tracked into the camper. Ticks were an issue as well. These were minor issues, and we had a good overall experience. Campground was clean and utilities were well maintained.

It was nice and quiet but people keep trashing the shower houses and that is disgusting. People have no respect for the shower houses and it is aggravating

South Marcum is a great campground with excellent hosts. The lots are sized well and the entire area is well maintained. We are frequent campers at South Marcum. The only issue is speeding cars. People were going way too fast as there were children walking and riding bikes most of the day.

Area is quite hilly so the sites have limited level areas. Great access to the bike trail and showers.

Site was very shady, but where RV/camper parking very uneven. Water spicket was not close and no parking for 2nd vehicle.

We were right at the playground, which is super convenient if you have young kids with you. Bathroom is just past the playground. Pond is really close for fishing, too. The only downfall to this site is that if you want shade, there is none. There is also absolutely no privacy, as everyone around you walks on your site to go to the playground and bathrooms.. I'd have thought a path may be nice. We didn't really mind, but people didn't seem to care either way. Pad is level, but has a weird curb. If you're in a large vehicle, this definitely isn't the best choice.
