South Marcum campground at Rend Lake in Illinois is a terrific place to camp. We have camped there twice, both times in October. The campground is clean and has well spaced lots.... some sites are fairly sloped so leveling could be a problem. You can have shaded or open lots. It is close to Giant City, Ferne Cliffe, and Crab Orchard NWR. There are numerous areas to boat, fish, and view wildlife along with biking and hiking trails.

This is our 2nd time at South Marcum Campground. Site 116 was clean, level and spacious, with full hook ups. Nice view of the lake, and next to a shower house. The hosts were helpful and friendly. We will return again!

The campground was great, very well kept. The only issue was the hot water did not get hot in the shower house.

Although some sites are little difficult to maneuver with longer campers, the sites were well kept and paved.
