What Guests Are Saying
Coon Creek offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with clean facilities, well-maintained campgrounds, and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the picturesque views of Lake Shelbyville and the quiet atmosphere, making it a favorite for families and nature lovers. However, some concerns were raised about the lack of fish cleaning stations, narrow parking spaces, and the need for improved arrival hours for campers without reservations.

This is a buddy site and neither site was very level. The fire pit in the left site was about five feet from the camper and completely unusable. The bathrooms are very nice and there is direct access to the water which was nice. Most sites are small, have weird placement of fire pits and some even have the electrical outlet on the wrong side. We probably won’t be back.

We often camp at Coon Creek. Shower houses are always well taken care of - just needs to be more of them. Always a pleasant experience.

Nice quiet place. The facilities were very clean and the laundry was a big plus. The campsites were nice with pretty good shade and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I wish there was better access to the lake if you’re not a boater. In fact, in the three days we stayed there, we barely saw the lake. There’s a little store just outside the entrance that was very convenient. I’d stay there again if I passing through the area but probably wouldn’t make it a destination. You just can’t beat those COE prices, especially with the Senior Pass.

Lots big shady sites, good spacing between them, some feel very secluded. Facility’s are nice. I suggest looking at sites online when booking. Some can be tricky backing a big trailer in and some are not very level.

This was the first time camping at Coon Creek since the upgrades were completed. The campground looked awesome. It was so nice to plug into a 50 amp service without using an adapter. We had a full hook up site for a 10 day stay. It was the first time we stayed that long. It was awesome! It was nice to see that the Ranger patrolled the campground as well. We come every year and will be back!
