What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for many long-time visitors. While some amenities, such as hot water availability and maintenance support, have declined, most campers still enjoy the private, serene sites and the access to outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. However, issues like noise from other campers and limited store supplies have been noted, highlighting areas for improvement.

It was full hookup, but the hook ups were so far away I had to drive 100 miles to get an extension for my septic hookup. When you back in, the septic hookup is as far away as it can go on one end and the electric hookup is as far away as you can get on the other end. Even though I bought a longer septic hose in the past and a longer electric cord, they still weren’t long enough for this site. Didn’t appreciate the parking rules. I have stayed in the past is why I came back. Could have been better. Also, the septic wouldn’t hardly drain. Wanted to back up in the lines.

Bathhouses out of order. Tried to cancel due to family members( had to stay home under Covid 19 surveillance) illness and was unable or would have to pay anyway.

Great 3 day getaway. Very relaxing. Each section has maybe 4 or 5 electric sites & one or two sites with both electric and water, but water is close by. The bathrooms are clean for the most part, but my wife said that the soap despenser was empty two days in a row. They could pay a little more attention to keeping the bathrooms stocked. The sites are spaced well, and lots of forest around.
We saw a few deer and a rafter of turkey. The lake was a few hundred yards from our site and there was a trail that made access to the waters edge even easier. The camp store and beach were not open. I'm guessing due to high water, but you could buy wood and ice at the check in station.
We will be going back zilpo to camp again.

We love Zilpo. It’s an awesome campground right on the lake. Even during covid it’s easy to have a good time. Many memories made.

Zilpo campground is a beautiful spot on a peninsula jutting out into Cave run Lake but there are very few trails down to the lake for campers which is not nice. You are expected to drive to find hiking trails.
The bathhouse near our section was out of order but the walk was not very long to the other one.
Poison ivy surrounded the campsite which was unfortunate.
