What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for many long-time visitors. While some amenities, such as hot water availability and maintenance support, have declined, most campers still enjoy the private, serene sites and the access to outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. However, issues like noise from other campers and limited store supplies have been noted, highlighting areas for improvement.

The campsite was awesome but the restroom closest to our campsite was closed. The next closest one had standing water in the showers. We used the restrooms in another loop. There is also a water spigot that has been running non-stop for several years in the H loop. That has to be costing someone some money.

My husband and I stayed here in H Loop site 27 for 4 nights. wonderful view, helpful staff and camp host. Lovely access to lake with little private beach. We are returning to H Loop site 26 in Oct. Its a double and invited our family. If they come they come . If not, we have a large double campsite to ourselves. It has a much larger beach access. Site 27 has the best view, Site 26 the best beach. Both are private. No one very close at all. We couldn't see the occupants in 26 when we were there. In the fall it could be different. Still, looked at all of sites in several campsites while here. These 2 are the best. No electric, water is close, Bath House not a terrible walk. The one nearest us was closed but other one just around the corner from first. Baht House was clean and well maintained. We had solar shower so we didn't use the shower only bathroom. This will now be our go campground close to home.

The campground is beautiful but because you cannot use a golf cart, it’s a VERY long walk to the water. Since I had recently had back surgery, that was a problem. We also had no idea the beach was closed until we arrived. To top it off, there are so few electric sites, we had to bring our generator. It’s very quiet ( has an inverter) and we were at a site with no neighbors. Still, security refused to let us run it more than the two hours daily. Since our camper battery had stopped holding a charge, we couldn’t even run the fan. Because of all the problems, we left early. We asked at the gate for them to note our site was vacated so we could get a refund. Guess what? Yes, you guessed it- they couldn’t even do that. Very unfriendly campground.

My family of six had a very good experience staying in a cabin (cabin number 11) and enjoying the beach at Zilpo Campground this Labor Day weekend 2020. The beach was really nice and not crowded at all. We were sure to arrive at 11am so we could get a beach pass. The cabin was very clean. We liked the set up with the fire ring just outside of the cabin and the bathroom very closeby. Definitely bring good bedding if you stay in a cabin- there are no mattresses on the beds! They are hard frames. We knew this going into our trip but next time will be better prepared by bringing extra bedding for cushion!!
