Despite persistent rain showers, we had a great time! My only recommendation is that before opening for the season, I'd like to have seen the carpet of leaves cleaned up and wood chips spread, at least around the fire rings. After a day or so, with all the rain, there was a lot of mud. Otherwise, the cabins were in great shape, and everyone was impressed with the new restrooms. We went on a couple of short hikes, and you can't miss checking out Cunningham Falls. Tim and Kim were excellent hosts, and the rangers and park staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a memorable experience that I highly recommend!

Loved this. Park rangers were so kind to my son. All staff were friendly and the cabins were clean. This is the only campground I’ve been to with free firewood. My only complaint was the route to my cabin was extremely rocky but that’s nature.

We had such high hopes for Camp Misty Mount. We'd set aside the one weekend of the spring/summer we could take a vacation together and booked Cabin #27. We stayed only one night. The cabin reeked of mildew and the mattresses were like damp sponges, seeping through sleeping bags, clothes and leaving us clammy with skin crawling. Just an appalling experience. I recognize that this is a national park and was not expecting a luxury experience, but I had assumed a basically habitable shelter. A tent would have been far preferable. We slept on the floor and left first thing. Wrote to the camp manager to let them know, ask about possibility of a partial refund, but no response. Camp Mouldy Mildew: Avoid.

Beautiful American Chestnut log cabins built in 1937 by the WPA. The camp is a Maryland Treasure and the staff are very helpful. Thanks to Thomas we now have a greater appreciation for the role of fungi in the forest.

In mid October the campgrounds were stunning. The camp host was helpful and friendly. We were appreciative of the precut wood that we could go get, and the kindling that was on our porch when we arrived. Park Rangers were very kind and informative at check-in. You can’t pull up all the way to many of the cabins, so make sure you've got plenty of helpers when unloading (and nothing too heavy that you can’t carry a short distance). The campgrounds are rocky, so just be careful with little kids tripping on rocks near the fire ring (and in general). We loved the campground and will definitely be returning. I also loved how clean the bathrooms were. So nice to be able to take care of bathroom needs and feel clean when you leave. :)
