The physical site was fine, but the ground was quite bumpy. It made it quite challenging to get comfortable. The other guests at some of the sites were an issue. Guests from at least two other sites were loud and swinging their lights around wildly, blinding anything in their path. We were lying out trying to gaze at the starts, and were flashed in the eyes multiple times. It hurt and was quite frustrating.

The location is very convenient for anyone wanting to tour the battlefield and then overnight nearby, and the proximity to the river is also a bonus. While the tents were spaced reasonably far away from each other, there are no trees or anything to obstruct the view from one tent to the next, so don't expect much privacy. All in all, while I prefer a more rugged experience, this campsite is great for anyone looking to go tent camping in the Antietam area.

Awesome campsite along the Potomac! Easy walk from parking and right on the C&O trail. The site was flat and the table/fire ring and grill were in excellent condition. From the site we drove to Harpers Ferry and the battlefields. We had a little bad luck with a rowdy group showing up at 11:00pm and squatting on the site next to us. They raged until 4am. I'm sure it doesn't happen often but it did to us.

Facilities were clean and well kept. Campsite was nice, set down a little of a hill but on a flat area right next to the water.

You cannot drive up to the individual site, so you have to park and carry all your gear to the sites. No privacy or trees, sites are all lined up in an open area. No sign. No camp host.
