Beautiful campsite right by the river. Sites decently spaced apart. Distance to car is not too long, was not a problem. Lots of wildlife sounds at night. There is a train that goes by overnight and was loud. Overall a nice place to camp.

Gary the volunteer park ranger was very helpful, he spent time with me, my niece & my nephew & explained everything to us. I was going to shepherdstown and he recommended what turned out to be one of the best restaurants ever, the blue moon

Antietam Creek was clean and well laid-out. Although the campsites were a little close together, each has stunning views of the Potomac River.

I definitely love camping at Antietam Creek. I just wish others were cognizant of quiet time and overall of the fact there are people there who are trying to enjoy nature. Our most recent trip (March 27), the site next to us had a young child who clearly wasn't dealing with time away from the screen very well. Their solution was to play cartoons for the child... loudly... and through 11PM. It was very rude, against quiet time rules, and if everything else hadn't been awesome, their behavior could have ruined our whole weekend. As it was, the extremely loud child woke us up the following morning.

Still, it's a nice hike from Antietam Creek Campground down to Mountain Lock (Lock 37) or even up to Shepherdstown. Fishing is usually good in the area too, as long as there aren't too many people trying to swim in the area.

These sites are excellent, both for their location to nature, right near the Potomac, and near a historic city with Antietam. The Antietam National Battlefield is always worth a trip. Keep in mind where the bathrooms are located.
