Fifteen Mile Creek Campsite offers beautiful views of the Potomac River and is well-maintained, providing a peaceful and affordable camping experience. To put it briefly: a clean and safe-feeling camp ground. A picnic table, grill, and fire pit with each site & clean shared facilities (that even had toilet paper stocked!!!) Some sites had a great view of the river & the entire campground had direct access to a nice trail for walking/biking. On our weekend, other campers included couples and families from the DC area, we felt very safe & enjoyed the folks around us.

Info published by NPS indicated that a variety of amenities were available on site, such as water restrooms, showers, restaurants, Convenience stores, etc. In fact, none were available. This camp was similar to other hiker\biker camps along the trail, with no amenities. As a hiker\biker camp, it was fine.

One, the water pump had a handle removed, so there was no water source. Second, the mosquitos are pretty bad in this location.
At night and also in very early morning, there was a lot of vehicle traffic going in and out. It appears, that the lake access and the park attract all the local teenagers/youngsters.
Overall, I would not recommend this campground, even though the location is beautiful...

nice location. the pit toilets were buzzing with sewage flies; sewage truck came Friday morning and sprayed chemicals. We made a point to go to "bill's place" to use their restroom.
