What Guests Are Saying
McCoy's Ferry Campground is praised for its beautiful riverfront location, well-maintained facilities, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for camping, fishing, and biking along the C&O Canal towpath. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the portajohns and the spaciousness of the campsites. However, some guests noted noise from passing trains and occasional issues with cleanliness upon arrival, but overall, it remains a favored spot for repeat campers.

Beautiful view from our campsite. Weβve been camping there the same weekend for several years, and we are used to the trains.

McCoy's Ferry Campground is one of our most favorite places to camp. It was great earlier this spring when it first opened, but when we returned last week for an overnight stay the campground was not as clean and as well maintained as it usually is. A bit disappointing, but still a really treasure for those wishing to have a quiet, restorative time in a pastoral setting without big rigs, etc.

Wonderfully quiet campground nestled next to the Potomac River. Fire rings, grills and picnic tables are provided. We only stayed one night as we traveled but enjoyed the quiet. You need to know that there are train tracks close by along both sides of the river so you definitely get the βtrain experience β as the freight trains pass - including overnight. This wasnβt a problem for us as years ago we lived nearby active railroad lines so it was almost nostalgic for us. Would definitely recommend and stay there again if we are in the area.

The portable restrooms could have used a bit of attention.

We stayed mid-March, which is off-season. At 4pm on a Sunday, we were alone here. Ample pit toilets and porta-jons. Level sites with lovely river views. Enjoyed coming in through the tunnel in our 9β tall van. Very peaceful and quiet.
