Have stayed many times at Platte River. It is our favorite campground in Michigan. We went to the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, Traverse City Boardman Lake trail, Elberta Marsh boardwalk in Frankfort and Arcadia Marsh in Arcadia.

Wonderful campsite - location is near the dunes, amenities are well-maintained, and the woods and surroundings are beautiful. In addition, the park rangers were highly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend, especially for first-time/solo campers.

We were here in early October and perhaps it was the time of year, but we found the campground to be the quietest we've ever visited (which was amazing). Despite there being quite a few campers, everyone was quiet and respectful and it was a very calm setting. We were in Loop 4, which we loved. The bathrooms were clean and functional, everything was well maintained. Personally I really liked the hilly terrain on the campsites themselves, it made for a more interesting landscape. We also loved the walk to Lake Michigan (although it wasn't as well marked as it could have been - we got lost on the first go).
