Park was great! Loved our site location, cleanliness of the bath houses, friendly staff, clean park. A lot to do in the area including many hiking trails, beach accesses, towns to visit. Suggestion: if you plan to be there for a few days, plan your activities ahead of time to make the most of your time there. Visit the Visitor Center in Empire for maps and to make your plans. There are plenty of trail systems that provide amazing views of the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes that are worth every step-shorter and longer.

The walk-in sites have a great mix of feeling more secluded and yet having access to helpful infrastructure like a bear box (plenty of room for gear!), clean showers, bathrooms and a dishwashing station.

Level, private site with electric hookup, but no water. Bath house was spotless and readily accessible from our site. Platte River is perfect for kayaking, although I am not a kayaker. Water is not very deep and perfectly clear at the shallow depths. Nearby parking for the boat launch and lake Michigan access is ample and accessible.
