Bay Furnace Campground is praised for its clean, spacious sites and quiet atmosphere, with easy access to Lake Superior and nearby attractions like Pictured Rocks. Very secluded for friends and family. The short walk to the water was the best part!

The wooded camping area was amazing and beautiful. The toilets we cleaner than the KOA that we stayed at. And the beach/rock hunting and stargazing were the best on our trip!

All of the sites at this campground are nice, however, the water sites are beautiful! We love staying at BF due to its proximity to the town of Munising and the National Lakeshore hikes, beaches, ranger station etc. I do wish the campground had a better restroom/bath house available to guests. Nothing beats a shower after a day of hiking and exploring. We've stayed here for years, before the days of being able to reserve the National Park campgrounds, because we had young kids and didn't want to hassle the chance of not getting a site. We love it so much that we'll continue to stay here, based off location to grab groceries on the way back from a day exploring the park, or to eat at one of Munising's growing amount of restaurants to choose from.
You can hear the highway, slightly, but only the larger trucks.

Beautiful campground, very clean and quiet. Close proximity to pictured rocks. Wish they had showers, but that would probably spoil the whole experience. Showers are available at county campground for $5.

Bay Furnace is one of our favorite National Forest Campgrounds. Lots to do in the area, including Picture Rocks. We stay here each year as a mid-point in our travels to western U.P.

Although I only stayed one night, I observed the sites to be large, quiet (when I was there in September) and the area is interesting with several trails and nice walks in the area. Love the historical aspect of the area. I'd guess that the summer there, right next to the lake, would be amazing!

Nice rustic camp site, even though there were other sites close by we still felt fairly secluded/private in our spot towards the back. The complimentary wheelbarrow was super helpful at getting firewood back to our site. The actual Bay Furnace is really cool too, you can find lots of different colored glass on the beach.
