Colwell Lake is a beautiful, peaceful campground. The sites are large, treed and clean. There is a well groomed trail the completely circles Colwell lake. Nature is abundant. One of my favorite places to camp in the Michigan UP.

We usually love this campground, but unfortunately the mosquitos were the absolute worst we have ever seen (& we've dealt w/ U.P. mosquitoes our whole lives). They were so bad we left after just one nt. of a planned 8 nt. stay. Normally a beautiful place- really nice walking trail around the lake, large campsites, very clean outhouses.
Jerry & Carol were the hosts, & they were keeping the campground so clean!

Colwell Lake Campground is a very well kept campground. The new hosts are very nice and helpful. The lake is still high so there wasn't much beach by sites, but it's still cold for swimming anyway.

Lots of generators and quiet hours were not enforced

Lovely location- wish we had picked a site on the lake side of the campground-most of those sites had direct access to the path that goes around the lake. Peaceful, isolated, and even the vault toilets were the cleanest I've seen!
