Current providers for service at Camp 7 and Colwell lake are doing an exceptional job of tending the campsites.
Kudos to Camp 7 caretakers and to Colwell Lake caretakers.

Colwell Lake National Forest Campground is a fabulous campground with a hiking trail that leads around the lake. Many campsites are close to the shore of Colwell Lake offering private access to the lake for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Sunsets are gorgeous! The 2+ mile trail around the lake is well-maintained for a delightful hiking experience.
Camp hosts, Ben and Deb, are friendly, helpful and hard working. They keep the campground, trails, and outhouses clean and tidy.
There are many attractions accessible for day trips from the campground. Some include Fayette Historic State Park, Big Springs, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, waterfalls, AuTrain River Canoe/kayak trips, Lake Superior, and Lake Michigan.

Colwell Lake is a great campground! The sites are roomy, have large picnic tables, fire rings and posts to hang your lantern. The campground is well maintained and the hosts are nice and keep it clean.

This was our first time camping here.
The campground hosts, Ben and Debbie were great!
The restrooms are very clean and fresh smelling.
Campsites were neat and free of any branches.
Ben accommodated us with a two brushes to clean off our camper awnings.
The path around the lake was free of any branches and easy to walk on.
Both of them were very friendly.
A return trip to Colwell will be in the future!
