Hurricane River Campground offers a beautiful and quiet setting with well-maintained, spacious campsites located near Lake Superior and hiking trails. The Hurricane River campgrounds are very comfortable. We stayed in the Upper Loop, which is further from the shore but perhaps quieter, not that the Lower Loop was loud. I wish there was a place within the campgrounds where we could buy fire wood, like at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, for example. You'll see many people selling wood by the side of the road, so availability isn't the issue.
It was a lovely experience, and can't wait to get back there again.

We had a lovely time. The lavatory was clean and the staff very friendly. The road it's on is beautiful. Loved it.

We had a great time with our daughter and grandchildren. The campground is in a beautiful place. The water for the campground tastes great.
The pit toilets? “When they were good, they were very, very good and when they were bad, they were horrid.” But they never got as bad as toilets in more busy parts of the park.

The setting on the North Shore of the U.P. is incomparable. Campgrounds were clean, quiet, and scenic. We enjoyed walking to the light station and stopping along the way to enjoy the beach. Going west on the rustic trail was a highlight. Every evening we watched the sunset on the beach--It is the envy of Key West. My wife, dog, and I are rejuvenated and are already planning our next trip to Pictured Rocks. We checked out the Cruise line's dog kennel for use during the 2 1/2 hour coastal tour and it looks safe and adequate for our pooch. The vault toilets were well kept.
Thanks so much,
Ken Adams

I threw together a last minute four day camping trip to the UP and this was my only site not in backcountry. It was still quiet, beautiful, and one of the cleanest campgrounds I’ve ever seen.
